Work Philosophy

I believe that good communication skills are vital in developing independence and building happy relationships with others. Communication needs a minimum of two people and as such any therapy programme must involve the client and the people they communicate with. I really enjoy being part of a team supporting an individual develop their communication skills, and seeing that individual grow in confidence as they master the skills needed to express themselves clearly and with success.

Work History

I started my career working for Ministry of Education- Special Education, before moving to the United Kingdom. In the UK I worked with children and young adults with high and complex special needs, within home based, special and mainstream school settings. Upon returning to New Zealand in 2009, I specialised my skills to work with individuals of all ages who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), specifically the use of low and high tech communication equipment.
